Now that the car body is back in the shop, I am starting to look through existing parts to find out what I can clean and rebuild, and what I need to replace. The electric system is very brittle and has cracks and cuts everywhere. I considered creating my own cable loom, but decided to order a new one. Who thought that this would be an off-the-shelf item?
So langsam fange ich, die bestehenden Teile zu prüfen. Was kann ich reinigen oder reparieren, und was muss neu bestellt werden. Viele Kabel im Kabelbaum sind brüchig oder sogar zerschnitten. Also muss ein neuer Kabelbaum her. Hätte ich nicht gedacht, dass die Dinger einfach so beim Händler rumliegen.
After dumping so much money into the car, replacing the brake system is a pretty obvious choice. Here are some of the lines that I ripped out. All hoses, lines, pads and cylinders are easily ordered and comparatively cheap.
Nachdem ich so viel Geld in den Wagen gesteckt habe werde ich nicht an der Bremse sparen. Hier ein paar Reste vom Zerlegen. Bremsschläuche, Leitungen, Beläge und Zylinder gibt es recht günstig. Der Hauptbremszylinder wäre teuer, scheint aber OK zu sein.
