Now it is up to chemistry. The first bath removes the paint on the car layer by layer. A second bath neutralizes the acid. The next bath eats all rust. With some luck, the body comes out of that bath with the floor panels still attached.
Jetzt ist die Chemie an der Reihe. Das erste Bad löst eine Farbschicht nach der anderen ab. Im zweiten Bad wird neutralisiert. Das nächste Bad frisst alle rostigen Teile. Hier ist die Spannung gross: bleibt der Fahrzeugboden im Säurebad, oder ist noch genug Stahl übrig um ihn wieder heraus zu ziehen.

Then again neutralizing, and in the last plunge, the KTL base coat is chemically merged with the steel.
Noch einmal neutralisieren, dann folgt die KTL Beschichtung bei der die Grundierung über Elektrolyse fest mit dem Stahl der Karosserie verbunden wird.

The moment of truth: how much of the body is still usable. To our surprise, the left rear panel was mostly painted putty. What follows is a long stretch of finding parts, removing weakend panels, and rewelding healthy steel into the car.
Der Moment der Wahrheit. Viele Teile des Wagens müssen herausgeschnitten und ersetzt werden. Leider ist auch das Blech hinten links eigentlich nur eine grosse lackierte Spachtelfläche auf zerknautschter Stahlfolie. Raus und neu.
